Message from the artist:
Thank you for visiting my work at Artist Dealings.
The creative process has always been part of
my personal motivation and understanding about the world around
me. While abstract ideas associated with language and math have
always been difficult for me,
visually I am able to express myself completely. The concrete
nature of the visual arts process is how I have always learned
best.
As a lifelong student and
teacher of art, I learned is that telling stories through
pictorial symbols is a very ancient, universal concept. Through
the years, I found the body of my work connected by symbols that
could represent concepts and ideas that had a universal appeal.
I employed symbols that were common, like a staircase, or uncommon,
like the pole and crescent. As a language visual images, like
music, had few boundaries.
Over time I began to
realize an underlying formula, which seemed to dictate the
composition of the images in my drawings and paintings. I sought
to understand the meaning of the formula I had found to visualize
my ideas and a language developed - a Visual Pictographic Language.
My Visual Pictographic Language has a power I can call upon to
voice questions I have about coping in a world seemingly filled
with ambiguities, some serious, some comical, some secular and
some profoundly spiritual.
